What exactly did Mary Shaw consider the perfect doll to be? Was it supposed to be some kind of robot/animatronic or just an ultra-complex puppet? The boy was just a corpse-marionette but I'm not sure what the woman would have been if Mary wasn't murdered.
BTW I like this movie and think it's really creepy. Deal with it. I like a lot of movies most people don't like.

The Perfect Doll was Edward..his dad. An exact human replica doll of a real life person! (you can see hints of it during the beginning credits in the schematics). Though you can argue she cheated by using an actual CORPSE! I think the boy was her first attempt to do so, but wasn't perfect...unlike Edward, who as able to fool his own son!
