The boys take a break from their schtick.
There are no whirlwind of puns or snarky one liners from Groucho.
Chico doesn't bother to mangle the English language. , Groucho and Chico don't try to swindle each other.
There are no femme fatales. There is no Margaret Dumont. No harp or piano solos.
Harpo is given a little bit of of slapstick to work with, but his hijinks are tempered.
Basically, MGM made money off of them by renting them out to RKO.
Nifty.
Still, the storyline is entertaining. The love story is sweet. The claustrophobic set, while cheap, does provide the appropriate atmosphere for the story.
There was no need for the Marx Brothers to be the stars, though. Anyone competent would have sufficed.
