I caught it at an all night horror film festival a few years back, and it was first time watching it. I had heard all the hype on the Internet before that. I remember the audience loved Michael. Who wouldn't love an incestuous pervert played by a little person after all? I just finished re-watching this about ten minutes ago. My girlfriend and I just looked up the year of production (1981) and looked at the US release date (1985, with a 1986 VHS release). Our thought: Could this kind of movie get made nowadays? The graphic gore alone would get it an NC-17 rating (The original had a disclaimer, saying that no one under 17 will be admitted) and the politically incorrect incest overtones (along with that memorable nipple munching scene) wouldn't be touched by any mainstream studio. I could see Eli Roth doing a unofficial remake of this, like he did an unofficial remake of Cannibal Holocaust as "The Green Inferno".
