Lulu's beautiful, poignant "To Sir, with Love" title song is the perfect plus for this movie. All the music in this film is a winner, though that particular song is definitely the icing on the cake. I remember the title song being a huge hit, playing frequently on the radio, while I was a kid. I've always loved it.

Incidentally, this is easily my all-time fave high school movie.
Gorgeous Judy Geeson ("Pam"), and her performance, is enchantingly spot-on perfect in this film. She and Sidney Poitier (both separately and together) make this a must-see.
The part in the movie when Pam volunteers to take the sympathy flowers, that the class has taken up a collection for, to the mixed-race classmate's home, after his mother dies, is beautiful. Then later on 'Sir' goes to attend the funeral - and he's surprised, when he walks around the corner, to find all the students in his class waiting outside, nicely and respectfully dressed, and perfectly behaved, smiling at him. He knows, at that moment, that finally the values and life lessons he's been endlessly trying to instill in them have taken long-overdue root. That's a powerful feel-good lump-in-your-throat moment.

Finally saw this last night, and glad I did! Poitier was , of course, beyond excellent, as always, and I found it quite enjoyable. The graduation party was such a poignant scene (even though it was kind of funny to see the great Sidney Poitier doing a '60's dance!) and I loved the part where Lulu sings and they give Sir the present. But my favorite part was the ending, in which Sir has decided to leave, but as he's sitting in the classroom at the desk, next year's rambunctious students dash in and rough him up just a little and then run off. Sir stands up and rips up his acceptance letter to his new job, and decides to stay. The scene was so satisfying and sweet, and also just a little funny. Very enjoyable movie.
I can't get over how good these wonderful oldies are.
