Discuss Pleasantville

Fun question:

What movie would you choose to live in for 24 hours, if you could pick one and rematerialize in it, fully interacting with the characters and story lines/situations? You wouldn't be an observer, instead would be a fully integrated participant.

My choice? Four Weddings and a Funeral. The group seems like they'd be a lot of fun to hang out with, plus I've always liked attending weddings and receptions.

Only one? I've been thinking about this & I'm having a really hard time choosing just one. Do I choose a film because of the cast? Or do I choose it because of the film's setting/time period or scenario? Maybe I'll go with a 'Top 5'? This was really difficult, there are so many others!

  1. Any of the first 3 'Thin Man' movies

  2. The Godfather

  3. The Commitments

  4. Gosford Park or A Room With A View

  5. The Bad Sleep Well

I'd enjoy living in a movie of sometime 1930-1943 (particularly the early to mid '30s, and for sure pre-war) - but it would have to be an entertaining one. Not entertaining to the point of screwball comedy, but perhaps like a dramedy type movie.

The Goose and the Gander is really fun, and the type movie I'd definitely enjoy being in, as the situations and characters (plus the good manners and witty rapier banter, no matter what) are delightful.

Meanwhile, Dodsworth I think would be cool to live in. I'd want to be in parts that involve Mary Astor's character - which means I'd have to somehow be butting in to her story line with Walter Huston.

The breakfast club or Lord of the Rings

The Lord of the Rings but with the characters from The Breakfast Club. And The Breakfast Club but with the characters from The Lord of the Rings.
