Holy Christ, is this movie such a mess. I mean, I totally dig the beatnik touches, daddy-o but is this film crazy man! KA-RAY-ZEE! The sickest! Anywho, enough of my beatnik impressions. I really did try to like this film and at times it did seem all right but it just friggin' meandered all over the place. I guess I would be better off reading the book but I do like how Burroughs uses real life events in his life and places them in his fiction like how he really did kill his wife by accident doing a William Tell routine. And the two young writers who come to visit him in Interzone are obviously Kerouac and Ginsberg. I do admire how brave they were to feature homosexual relationships and I nearly flipped when they depicted them getting high off the alien jizm. I'm really surprised this got a R rating. But all this boldness in filmmaking was for naught because the plot was moronic. Of the story would have been just slightly more cohesive it coulda have been something special.
