The John Legend song was so bad... Was it intentional?
I know we're supposed to think that Sebastian is compromising a bit in order to make money, but man that concert was horrible... If this is what it would take to get young people into jazz, then maybe people shouldn't bother!

I thought it was good with the right amount of cheesiness.

but isn't cheesiness the antithesis of the jazz sensibility? the passion and the sensuality of most jazz music?

The whole point of the song was it was meant to be popular, people loved it, it made money.
It allowed Gosling to make money and open his own club so he could play his kind of jazz.

It's an okay song as far as I'm concerned.

Makes sense... the scene where the two leads argue about the validity of doing this work was so good... the dinner scene...
Also, the John Legend music is contrasted well with Seb's club in the future...
