Hlavním hrdinou napínavého příběhu je bývalý policista Ray Mercer, který byl před lety propuštěn z práce a odsouzen do vězení pro zpronevěru čtyř tisíc dolarů z policejního penzijního fondu. Nyní je na podmínku propuštěn a vrací se k manželce Rebecce, aby se s ní dohodl na rozvodu. Vydá se s ní do Las Vegas, kde by všechno proběhlo rychle a bez komplikací, jenže opak je pravdou. Když totiž jeho žena projeví přání zkusit štěstí v kasinu, které patří jejímu novému příteli, musí Ray čekat venku, protože podmínka mu zakazuje vstoupit dovnitř. Během čekání požádá jednu z hostesek kasina, aby za něj vhodila několik mincí do herního automatu a podaří se mu získat jackpot ve výši 450 000 dolarů. Jenže než si stačí svou výhru vybrat, je kasino přepadeno gangem lupičů. Policie Raye podezřívá, že je do věci zapleten a že jeho výhra byla jen komedií k odlákání pozornosti. Ray se rozhodne očistit své jméno a vypátrat pachatele loupeže...

Als Ray Mercer zijn straf heeft uitgezeten, wacht zijn vrouw hem bij de gevangenispoort op met de papieren voor de echtscheiding. Ze rijden meteen naar Las Vegas om de zaak snel te regelen. Zijn vrouw moet echter nog naar een casino waar ze een geheime relatie met de eigenaar onderhoudt. Als Ray Mercer het wachten moe is, stapt hij naar binnen om zijn geluk te proberen. Het fortuin lijkt hem even toe te lachen maar dan raken Ray en Rebecca verzeild in een ingenieuze overval op het casino. Een grote bende weet op bloederige wijze de beveiliging systematisch uit te schakelen. Niemand beseft wat zich in werkelijkheid afspeelt. Ray Mercer wordt door de gealarmeerde politie automatisch beschouwd als het brein achter de overval en neemt de vlucht. Als hij later terugkeert om te zien of Rebecca niets mankeert, ontwikkelt zich een strijd waarbij hij door alles en iedereen achterna gejaagd wordt.

In Las Vegas for a quicky divorce, a just-paroled ex-cop and his wife wander into the Top of the World Casino, run by the shady Charles Atlas. They win big, right as the casino is being robbed. The police believe their big win was a staged diversion, and the two of them become suspects. Over the course of the evening and next morning, the two attempt to escape to surrounded casino, and to prove their innocence, as well as to save their marriage.

En Las Vegas para un divorcio rápido, un ex policía recién liberado y su esposa deambulan por el Casino Top of the World, dirigido por el sombrío Charles Atlas.
