Jarek bringer sin ekskærestes datter Lilia til violinundervisning. På den måde lærer han underviseren Clara at kende, og snart føler han sig tiltrukket af hende. Da Lilia skifter til en anden lærer, mister de kontakten indtil de tilfældigt mødes igen.

For a job, Alina has to accept longer working hours and long business trips. The single mother has to reorganize her everyday life with her daughter Lilia and asks her ex-boyfriend Jarek to teach her the violin lessons. While Lilia finds it difficult to come to terms with the new situation, Jarek soon finds pleasure in contacting violin teacher Clara and her sons - much to the dismay of Clara's husband. When Lilia gets the chance to change to another teacher as a master student, the contact with Clara breaks off. Until Jarek and Clara meet again by chance a few months later.

Pour décrocher le travail dont elle rêve, Alina ne dit pas qu'elle élève seule sa fille de 9 ans. Débordée par des horaires infernaux, des voyages d'affaires et les exigences de la petite Lilia, elle appelle à la rescousse un de ses ex, Jarek, un peintre raté qui gagne sa pitance comme serveur. Une fois par semaine, il devra accompagner Lilia à son cours de violon. D'abord réticent car la petite fille ne lui a jamais caché son hostilité, Jarek se lie peu à peu avec Clara, l'enseignante de Lilia, maman de trois garçons. Mais cette complicité naissante est mal vue par le mari de Clara, un célèbre critique d'art...

Um nach längerer Arbeitslosigkeit endlich ihren Traumjob zu bekommen, verschweigt Alina, dass sie alleinerziehende Mutter der neunjährigen Lilia ist. Ein neues Alltagskonzept muss her, um ihren Beruf mit der Schule und dem Geigenunterricht der Tochter unter einen Hut zu bekommen. Alina ist auf die Hilfe ihres Exfreundes Jarek angewiesen, der Lilia nun einmal pro Woche zum Geigenunterricht bringen soll. Der erfolglose Maler Jarek, der sich mit einem Job als Kellner über Wasser hält, lässt sich ebenso ungern auf die neue Situation ein wie Lilia.
