Discuss Fullmetal Alchemist

But if this was a US based film and they cast everyone as black or other minorities it would be progressive as hell! Right?....

Mizushima added, “If you asked me whether I think the cast could pull it off, I’d say that no, they can’t.”

ouch.

i dunno. this isn't something like Ghost in the Shell where the characters were explicitly drawn as certain races. the Fullmetal cast are just kind of generic anime designs (not a dig).

i did always get a European vibe from the setting.

Well I mean in Ghost people say she looks more White than Asian in some incarnations of the universe, which I agree with. But in FMA they are pretty clearly European/White inspired. Same thing with Attack on Titan.

Just watched it. To be fair, the actors costumes did look like cosplay. Ed 's hair was especially distracting and the actor which seemed too tall for the role, which wouldn't have been bad if they didn't keep calling him small though he was around the same size as everyone else. I did like Al though. As for the story, I haven't watched enough of Full Metal Alchemist to see if it was faithful, it does make me curious though.
