Twins in love with the same man (Glenn Ford) The good twin falls for the guy - she met him first, the evil twin gets jealous and steals him away. .. The good twin is so passive that she doesn't put up a fight that her sister stole and married her man.

So the girls go out on a boat one night, a storm sets in, the bad twin falls overboard, the good twin just happens to grab the only part of her sister as she drowning; her left hand, where somehow the wedding ring slips off and she just happens to grab it as her sister goes down. (This was so far fetched, even for me) I usually ignore over the top scenes if they are done well.

So the good twin takes over the bad twins life and pretends to be the wife of the man she's always loved.

I just adore Bette Davis movies, this was so cliched but I still enjoyed most of it.
