Everyone has their own favourite Bette Davis performance and many may, understandably, pick Dark Victory, The Letter, Now, Voyager or All About Eve. Or any of her many exemplary performances. I'm sure out there is someone who would choose Return from Witch Mountain. My pick would be William Wyler's magnificent melodrama The Little Foxes. Bad Bette is always fun and here she's at her worst. There is one scene on the stairs with Herbert Marshall - which I shall not spoil for those who haven't seen it - which is surely among the most chilling in 1940s cinema. She is a wicked joy throughout, and a tremendous line-up of co-stars helps makes this a treat, A great film, adapted by Lillian Hellman from her own play.

I love Bette Davis. But not a big fan of any of her films after 1960 though.
My favorite (generally, depending on my mood) is Now, Voyager.
" Oh, Jerry, don't let's ask for the moon. We have the stars."
But I also love her 'bad girl' roles.
