I kinda don’t get why they are rebooting this franchise when Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are still out there and conceivably able to star in another MIB film? I’m not against spinoffs or reboots, but I feel like with this particular property a new film would be much more successful with the original leads.

This is just the world we live in now, with reboots that are unnecessary being churned out seemingly every year. I can't see any rhyme or reason either, except for 💰💰💰💰💰

lol @ nig blue nightmares! I'm sure Disney through a big *** bag of cash for him to star...you STILL couldn't have me sit through that horrid looking Aladdin redo!
As for Smith & Jones...even in MIB3 Jones looked...OLD. Probably why Josh Brolin starred as Agent K more then Jones did (a spot on impression of Jones I may add). Smith seemed to outgrow the role as well.
And I wouldn't say this is a straight up "reboot"...if you look closely at THIS TRAILER at the 30 second mark, you can see references to the original. They're in the same Universe, just a seperate MIB team across the pond (hence the 'International')

Honestly, the last two MIB movies weren't that great. It was either reboot the franchise or let it die. Personally, I thought the new film was pretty decent.

I was a fan of the Cops Capacity one, and also the Dry Docking mission, but I needed a friend to help me do it online.

Well, for those clamoring for another Smith starrer..maybe that WAS the way to go. Its not looking too good for MIB:I evident by THESE numbers! Seems like the only one that can make mega-hot box office movies nowadays is DISNEY, I swear (I'm willing to bet Toy Story 4 will surpass Toy Story 3's opening weekend)!
I guess replacing Jones & Smith with Thor & Valkryie wasn't enough (neither is Nick Fury's 'Shaft'..lol)..let's just see anything that starts with the Disney castle and call it a day!

I think there are just certain ones that only work with their original cast. The Mummy was another example. Tom Cruise is (arguably) still a big star, but he wasn’t able to get people interested in seeing The Mummy again. Had they done it with Brendan Frazier and the rest of the crew I think a fourth film would have done well. The same for MIB.

Personally I have nothing against them. I just think there are obvious cases where failure is certain. MIB without Smith and Jones was a certain failure for me. But had they done it with their original stars I think it would be a success.

Wish I coulda done it back in the late 70s/early 80s when Disney was hard up to stay afloat & they were churning out the likes of 'The Black Cauldron" as their tentpole animated flick!
