In "The Adventures of Milo and Otis" there were no humans. It was just about the cat, the dog and their adventure. In the way "The Adventures of Milo and Otis" had to do with being out on a adventure and eventually getting back home, so did "A Dog's Way Home" which dealt with the same type of scenario...except Milo and Otis had a fun adventure, and with the dog in "A Dog's Way Home" it felt more like watching animal abuse because it's owners were not carful enough to prevent the dog from running out of the backyard. The moment I saw a human (very early) in the movie; I knew it was doomed.
If your interested in watching a dog find it's way home; buy "The Adventures of Milo and Otis" instead.
