At the beginning of time, giants created the mountains and deep forests that surround the small town of Ydre. It’s now one of Sweden’s smallest municipality, and has a population of just a few thousand, which is carefully looked after by the friendly and idealistic mayor. He is ready with gifts and big smiles every time a child is born and he can note that Ydre has a new inhabitant. In the meantime, youths and elderly people are working and living their lives. It’s a cinematic film about responsibility, love for the community and sense of belonging told with an anchored humor about ordinary enlightened moments of everyday on-going life. Creation myths, fables and everyday realism are mixed with understated comedy in an atmospheric and moving film.

Вначале гиганты сотворили горы и густые леса, окружающие городок Идре. Это самый маленький муниципалитет Швеции с населением всего в несколько тысяч человек, за которыми присматривает дружелюбный мэр-идеалист. Когда Идре начинают угрожать убыль населения и проблемы большого внешнего мира, мэр с широкой улыбкой и подарками наготове встречает каждого новорожденного ребенка, увеличивающего население городка. Возможно, город и деревня и отдаляются друг от друга, но регулируемые ЕС цены на молоко и миграционный кризис добираются и до самых окраин, где стареющий мэр встречает автобус с африканскими мигрантами с тем же радушием, что и новорожденного младенца.

Al principio de los tiempos, los gigantes crearon las montañas y los bosques profundos que rodean el pequeño pueblo de Ydre. Ahora es uno de los municipios más pequeños de Suecia y tiene una población de unos pocos miles, que es atendida cuidadosamente por el alcalde amistoso e idealista. Está listo con regalos y grandes sonrisas cada vez que nace un niño y puede notar que Ydre tiene un nuevo habitante. Mientras tanto, los jóvenes y las personas mayores están trabajando y viviendo sus vidas. Es una película cinematográfica sobre la responsabilidad, el amor por la comunidad y el sentido de pertenencia contada con un humor anclado sobre momentos ilustrados ordinarios de la vida cotidiana en curso. Los mitos de la creación, las fábulas y el realismo cotidiano se mezclan con una comedia discreta en una película atmosférica y conmovedora.
