Discuss Believer

Ok so I saw it. And it was ok. Wasnt on the same level as The Man from Nowhere or A Bittersweet Life but still pretty good. The cinematography was really good, liked the snowy opening and than all the night shots of Seoul especially the dark underbelly, which Korean crime movies do such a fantastic job at. The acting was great, course I wouldnt expect anything else. Sad that Kim Joo-hyuk, the crazy Chinese drug lord died after filming this film. The action scenes are fantastic, even if they seemed very few in between but thats ok since this film had alot of story to get out. Editing/pacing was great, didnt drag on to long or anything. Everything was light very well, some films are under lit especially the night scenes but this one was fantastic. The only real negative I have is the obvious major twist. I mean how many people didnt figure out Mr Lee was Rak the whole time? Not to mention they sprinkled hints around, Miss Oh said he never tried to kill her before, he had two cells(granted he was a drug dealer), he had a trained guard dog, and his family story changed.

But I do have some questions, why did Brian think he would kill the real Mr Lee with that bomb? Was it because Mr Lee called the meeting and Brian just thought to kill him off and take over his business? And Brian killed his father as well right? And why did Brian go along with the cops that he is Mr Lee at the end? Was that part of the deal to let him live? Or the cops cut him a deal to not seem incompetent? And how did detective Won-ho figure out the dogs name was Leica? Im guessing it had to do with the fact that he called it a Jinuro dog or something like that? My subs might not have been the best but I didnt get that part. And yes I know the new drug was named after the dog, Im guessing thats the flash back where the detective goes back to the animal hospital and says the dogs name and get a reaction. After he almost ODed on the new stuff. But Im guessing thats why he thought to put a tracker on it. And of course the ultimate question, who got shot at the end? I think the detective shot himself at the end. Since it seems like he had nothing left and the question he asked 'have you ever been happy?' Some people say it was Lee who got shot by the noise the drug cooks make outside but they seem to forget that the brother and sister are deaf and mute so they didnt hear the gun shot, hence why they are playing outside and loading up the truck. A great and depressing film overall, just what I would expect.
