Discuss E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

Lots of people argue that Die Hard is a Christmas movie because it takes place at Christmas so I'm wondering if any holiday in a movie makes it a movie for that holiday.

No. IMHO a movie needs to be about or be integral to that particular 'holiday' to be considered a 'Christmas, Halloween, Easter, etc., movie. As others have said, can a particular movie take place at another time & still be the same movie? If 'Die Hard had taken place at Easter time would you call it an 'Easter' movie?
