Nope, it's only 'sorcerer's' in america, everywhere else in the world it's Philosopher's.
The book publisher didn't think American children would know what the 'Philosopher's Stone' was so changed it, The movie re-filmed scenes for both markets to match the book title.
Unfortunately, running KODI and using TheMovieDb as my source, it mislables the movie that I own which when played shows "Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone", not Philosophers. Perhaps it makes sense to add an additional entry in the database for those who have the movie as Sorcerers for the Americans, all 325 million of us.
Keep in mind that Harry Potter books sold 4 to 1 in America, more than any other country including the UK where they were authored and they were distributed in English, in more than 90 countries.
The title change was done with the consent of J.K. Rowling.
I'd like the movie listing to match the movie i own. I have the US version. I should be able to select the US title. I'm not suggesting a change, just the reinstatement of the alternate.
"The movie re-filmed scenes for both markets to match the book title."
Personally I think "Sorcerer" was a stupid change. "Philosopher's Stone" was a real, existing legend and Scholastic was too stupid to realize it. And once made, the change kept proliferating throughout the whole franchise.
It wasn't just the first movie that had to re-film scenes. ALL back-references to the Philosopher's Stone throughout the rest of the series had to be filmed twice . What a waste of time.
Philosopher's Stone is the original title, and since it was a WW phenomenon (and only known as Sorcerer's Stone in the US) it's the most recognised title. Personally I'm glad they stuck with the original title instead of the usual bastardized english the yanks usually use.
Personally, even if for me this movie is mythical, I am so disappointed compared to the live.
But I'm still a fan of the harry potter saga.
I would dream of a great director to take back the harry potter but a little more faithful to the book... and you what do you think ?

Can't you do what most of the world does when the US makes movies and put up with a title that's slightly different ?

Is it that difficult to add the alternate title back in? it was there at one time but has been removed. The link for discussing it is missing as well
Sorcerer's Stone was the U.S. title. You can read about this in another post here: https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/671-harry-potter-and-the-philosopher-s-stone/talk/51a2fa42760ee328ad01488b

hmm.. Kodi doesn't see it..
here's some links to show what i'm seeing...
This is the name of the file I'm playing -> https://ibb.co/kecwva
When naming the file, this is the only option I get -> https://ibb.co/keK4gF
You'll notice here -> https://ibb.co/dzmBTv that the movie playing is Sorcerers and the listing and thumbnail is philosophers
By comparison, look at all of the options I get when I type in "Paranormal Activity" -> https://ibb.co/ezHDaa
