Do you think Damien was aware of his status?

I always wondered when Damien realized he was the devil? I know the book said he lived a normal childhood up for some time and after a certain age changed.

Omen 2 is when he realised his fate. I think you see him running out of the house upset once his aunt told him the truth. It's been years since I have seen all the films.
