На 20 юни 2009 г. 26-годишната Неда Ага Солтан е простреляна в сърцето от снайперист по време на протестите срещу корумпирани президентски избори в Иран. За разлика от много други жертви на режима, снимките и видеото на последните й мигове за часове достига до хиляди компютърни екрани. Така протестите в Техеран привличат вниманието на целия свят, а Неда се превръща в лицето на тази своеобразна иранска революция.

On June 20, 2009, Neda Agha-Soltan was shot and killed on the streets of Tehran during the turmoil that followed the Iranian presidential contest. Within hours, images of her dying moments, captured on cell phones, appeared on computer screens across the world, focusing the world's attention on mass protests against the rigged elections in Iran. Featuring previously unseen footage of Neda with friend and family, as well as exclusive video of her recorded the day she died, "For Neda" debuts just before the anniversary of her death.

Il 20 giugno 2009 a Teheran, una studentessa di filosofia, Neda scende in strada a manifestare contro l’esito delle elezioni presidenziali, giudicato truccato. La protesta viene duramente sedata dalle autorità e la ragazza, uccisa barbaramente viene ripresa nei suoi ultimi istanti di vita da un filmmaker amatoriale. Neda, sarà da quel momento in poi “la voce dell’Iran”.
