Discuss The Munsters

So we finally got our first teaser trailer a couple of days ago. Anybody have thoughts?

I never got into the Munsters very much (before my time) but I'm definitely gonna check this out.

I'm not a fan of Rob Zombie...but this actually looks like he's NOT trying to redirect this franchise into a darker direction, but actually stay true to its comedic and "hugging/learning" elements so determinedly eschewed by Larry David during his run with Seinfeld.

Zombie doesn't typically stray far from his raunchy grindcore style, but this looks like a stretch that might be fun and prove he's got more range than he's heretofore shown.

I am looking forward to this, and rooting for him.

He's made good ones?

Well, I've gone on record across this thread as well as in a thread on Rob Zombie's page - I am not a fan, his brand/style is not for me. I would suppose those who look forward to his productions would say he's made movies they enjoy watching...but, as we've been tracking through the data, that audience of his is dwindling substantially.

I'm not a fan of horror movies that are filled with a lot of blood & gore. I prefer the thriller-type horror films.

I’ve never seen a Rob Zombie film because I’m not into slasher flicks, but I really liked his music video for Living Dead Girl. It’s a classic homage to The Cabinet of Dr Caligari. So I had high hopes for this movie which seemed like it was his big push outside the slasher genre. And as with his successful handling of the Caligari “remake” I figured he’d know how to handle the original Munsters material with the right touch.

‘Parently not. It’s hard not to be swayed by all the reaming it’s getting by critics. That and a friend of mine who’s a RZ fan told me to avoid this at all costs. But I still may check it out one day. I like the look of surreal colors in the screenshots I’ve seen. And one thing even his critics agree on, RZ seems like he truly believes in this delivery even if it fails. Maybe it’s a modern day Plan 9 From Outer Space… so bad it’s good?
