I'm not sure this needs to be a TV series and struggle to see how the concept will stretch to 10 or so hours, let alone an ongoing show.

Once the film revealed that the spaceship was haunted, there was nothing more to disclose of major importance... in this respect, the film itself dragged, plotwise. I can easily see this becoming a show.
