在不远的未来，人类大量排放废气制造垃圾，远远超出地球的承载能力，地球迎来无法逆转的沙化期。动植物变异产生地球新主人“沙虫”，它们屠城略地将人类逼到灭绝边缘，幸存者只能孤注一掷，寻找大漠深处仅存的避难所“绿洲”。一支由富商、科学家、保安队长、机械师一家以及混混组成的流亡小队乘着特制装甲车踏上寻找“绿洲”的冒险旅程，但嗜血虫族却尾随在后紧追不舍。为了生存，众人不仅要躲避暴走沙虫的追击，还要应对同伴间的背叛和选择，死伤惨烈，希望渺茫。等待人类的将会是怎样的命运？

The film tells the story of a near future in which the earth is irreversibly sandy, as human emissions and rubbish exceed its carrying capacity. As plants and animals mutate to create the Earth's new masters, the "sand worms", which are slaughtering the planet and driving humans to the brink of extinction, the survivors are left to their own devices to find the only remaining refuge in the deep desert, the "Oasis". An exiled team of wealthy businessmen, scientists, security chiefs, mechanic families and gangsters set out on an adventure to find the Oasis in a special armoured vehicle, but the bloodthirsty insects are hot on their heels.

In einer dystopischen Zukunft kämpft die Menschheit ums Überleben in einer von mutierten Sandwürmern beherrschten gigantischen Wüste. Eine Gruppe Überlebender begibt sich auf eine gefährliche Reise in einem gepanzerten Fahrzeug, um die „Oase" zu finden. Während sie gegen die mutierten Kreaturen kämpfen und viele Opfer bringen müssen, schwindet die Hoffnung auf Rettung.

지구 미래에는 인류가 대공황을 맞아 환경 회의가 중단되고, 각국의 매연 배출로 남극 상공의 오존층이 파열되면서 지구는 돌이킬 수 없는 사화기를 맞고 있다. 지구의 새 주인 '모래 벌레'를 탄생시킨 동식물이 끊임없이 생존공간을 잠식하면서 인류가 멸종 위기에 이르자 사막에서 알 수 없는 '오아시스'를 찾아 나선다. 재력가 쑨보원과 과학자 류둥, 보안대장 왕창과 로봇 이국량 일가, 건달 마보 일행이 특수 장갑차를 타고 오아시스를 찾는 모험의 여정에 나선다. 도중에 살아남기 위해 많은 사람이 시련을 겪고, 심지어 세 가지 변종 곤충에게 쫓기기도 한다. 생존의 희망이 극히 적은 상황이다. 인류의 마지막 희망인 유일한 생존자 빙빙은 녹주까지 갔지만, 모래 벌레 수장이 빙의 뒤를 바짝 쫓아온다.
