I have seen all of the films in the franchise several times over the years, and I never realised that the "ring around the mouth" joke first featured in this movie, is repeated in SEVERAL of the sequels...

PA 1: Harris gets a shoe polish ring around his mouth, from his megaphone.

PA 3: Proctor gets a Shrimp Cocktail Sauce ring around his mouth, while eating shrimp.

PA 4: Harris gets a glue ring/rubber gasket stuck around his mouth, from his megaphone.

PA 5: Jelly Donut Stooge gets a powdered sugar ring around his mouth, from eating several donuts.

The writers worked the joke in so cleverly in different ways, that it seemed to hide the joke so it was not so obvious...

In PA 3, I focused on the part about how the Hooker "loved" how Proctor ate shrimp, and thought nothing more of it... In PA 4, I got that the joke repeated, but, I thought that on purpose... In PA 5, I just thought the stooge was messy...

It never occurred to me that the rest of them in the other films was part of the same running joke, until now...

Has anyone else missed this running joke throughout the franchise until now, too?

I just saw PA 2, PA 6, and PA 7 (Moscow) again... and I don't remember anything resembling this joke being in these movies. (Maybe I Missed Them?)
