原名八田友江，家中共有4姐妹。1987年16岁的八田踏入了艺能界，加入了由艺能经理人兼作词家朝仓薰组成的青春少女3人组合“Lemon Angel”。90年解散后，樱井智开始了舞台剧及动画配音（也就是声优）的工作，并经常推出歌曲CD或广播剧CD，因为也拥有大量歌迷，声迷的原因，有时也会举行演唱会及歌迷会。 2016年9月1日，在官方博客上发表因自觉发声困难而决定引退的消息。《银魂》的日轮由井上喜久子接任。 2019年5月31日在自己的Twitter上宣布复归声优业。 |
