Michelle Yeoh is not your typical actress. She is also a beauty queen - Miss Malaysia 1983 - and a Kung Fu goddess, who did the stunts herself.

"In Asia at that time, we don't really do rehearsals, we don't have weeks of preparation. We learn the stunt and we do it."

In 1995, while filming "阿金 (阿金的故事)(The Stunt Woman) (1996)", she almost died when she jumped off the 18-meter-high bridge and missed the safety net. She dislocated her neck, broke her cervical spine, and also suffered various sprains in other parts of her body.

In 2022, at age 59, she still does some stunts, but she's stopped doing the death-defying ones.

"I am not a stunt person, per se. I have to sometimes step back and say, 'Please let the professionals do their job.' I have to talk myself down."
