Gabrielle Danièle Marguerite Andrée Girard (9 October 1926 – 17 October 2015), known by her stage name Danièle Delorme, was a French actress and film producer, famous for her roles in films directed by Marc Allégret, Julien Duvivier or Yves Robert.

Delorme was born in Levallois-Perret, Hauts-de-Seine, one of four children to the well-known painter, poster-maker and theater-designer André Girard and his wife Andrée (nee Jouan). Girard maintained a studio in Venice in 1936–37 and in Manhattan in 1938. Back in France he was not called up in 1939. After the Battle of France, M. Girard removed to Antibes, then a free-zone and set up a network which provided recruiting and spying work for the French resistance. It was during this time that young Delorme began her acting career.

In 1940 at the age of 14 Delorme began acting and played a series of minor roles before she began acting in film. Two years later, owing to her father's contacts, she was able at 16 years old (at the time using the name Danièle Girard) to secure a bit part in The Beautiful Adventure (La Belle aventure (1942)).

Two years later director Marc Allégret again used Delorme, this time in a large role. This time she performed on the stage name she would use for the rest of her career, Danièl Delorme. One story developed that she took the name in order to hide from the Gestapo her relationship to her father. But the suggestion came from character actor Bernard Blier, who performed with her in her second film to take the name from the heroine of Victor Hugo's play Marion Delorme. (Delorme would co-star with Blier two decades later in the philosophical courtroom criminal drama, The Seventh Juror (Le septième juré (1962)).

During the first decade of her career Delorme played delicate, demure, bright young women, roles for which she was physically fitted. Her first husband, Daniel Gélin, who also performed in The Beautiful Adventure, said she had "the face of a little girl, an upturned nose with passionate nostrils, the lips of a child, the body of a woman and a certain way about her that turns heads." Richard W. Seaver of the New York Times described her as "a winsome wisp of an actress, with her soft smile and grey eyes." These features finally landed her a breakthrough role in Miquette et sa mère (1949).

Also notable was her performanace as femme fatale in Julien Duvivier's Voici le temps des assassin (1956) (Deadlier Than the Male in the US and Twelve Hours to Live in the UK), co-starring with Jean Gabin.

In 1960 Delorme joined more than 140 intellectuals, teachers, writers and celebrities in signing a manifesto supporting the right of French conscripts to refuse military service in Algeria. As a result, the French government on 28 September issued a ban against all signatories from appearing on state-run radio or television or in state-run theaters. At the same time the information minister said that another cabinet order was in preparation that would deny government funding to any film project in which any signatory appeared. ...

Gabrielle Girard, dite Danièle Delorme, est une actrice et productrice de cinéma française, née le 9 octobre 1926 à Levallois-Perret et morte le 18 octobre 2015 à Paris 6e.

Danièle Delorme est la fille du peintre et affichiste André Girard et d'Andrée Jouan. Elle fait des études de piano pour devenir concertiste mais la guerre l'oblige à les interrompre.

Pendant la période de l'Occupation, sa mère est déportée à Ravensbrück (dont elle sera libérée en avril 1945), et son père part pour le Royaume-Uni. Elle se réfugie à Moncrabeau puis à Cannes où elle suit les cours de théâtre de Jean Wall puis elle débute dans la compagnie théâtrale de Claude Dauphin. Marc Allégret l'engage dans trois films successifs: Félicie Nanteuil et La Belle Aventure, tournés en 1942, puis Les Petites du quai aux fleurs en 1944.

Après-guerre, elle se perfectionne avec Tania Balachova et René Simon. Son interprétation de Gigi d'après Colette en 1949 lui apporte la renommée et, sur cette lancée, elle tourne de nombreux films où sa grâce, sa pudeur et son engagement dans des rôles d'héroïne fragile, souvent marquée par le destin, font impression. Dans les années 1950 et 1960, elle joue au théâtre les grands auteurs tels qu'Ibsen, Jean Anouilh, Paul Claudel, Pirandello.

En 1960, elle signe le Manifeste des 121, déclaration sur le « droit à l'insoumission » dans le contexte de la guerre d'Algérie.

Après un rôle à contre-emploi de femme machiavélique dans Voici le temps des assassins de Julien Duvivier, elle prend au début des années 1960 quelque distance avec son métier d'actrice pour faire de la production. On la revoit dans les films d'Yves Robert dans les années 1970 et elle incarne en 1980, pour la télévision, Colette dans La Naissance du jour de Jacques Demy. En 1982, elle crée la collection vidéo Témoins, biographies de personnalités contemporaines.

Elle a été mariée à Daniel Gélin de 1945 à 1955, mariage dont est issu Xavier Gélin (1946-1999). Elle épouse ensuite Yves Robert en 1956; ils resteront ensemble jusqu'à la mort de celui-ci. Ils ont fondé la maison de production La Guéville, qui a notamment produit La Guerre des boutons et Alexandre le bienheureux. Elle vivait avec Yves Robert au moulin de la Guéville à Saint-Hilarion (Yvelines).

Danièle Delorme a été présidente de la commission d'avance sur recettes du Centre national de la cinématographie (CNC) en 1980 et 1981. En 1981, elle devient co-directrice, avec Marie Dabadie, de la société de production Témoins. Elle produit notamment le seul documentaire consacré à l'écrivain Jean Genet (par Antoine Bourseiller), trois sur le poète Philippe Soupault (par Bertrand Tavernier) ainsi qu'un autre sur les coulisses de la libération de Nelson Mandela.

Elle a aussi été présidente du jury de la Caméra d'or au Festival de Cannes 1988. La même année, elle fait partie de la commission des sages qui propose la création du Conseil supérieur de l'audiovisuel (CSA) en remplacement de la Commission nationale de la communication et des libertés (CNCL). ...

В 1945 году Делорм вышла замуж за актёра Даниэля Желена, у них родился сын Ксавье. Делорм и Желен расстались в 1954 году (из-за его романа с немецкой фотомоделью Марией Христиной Шнайдер, — родившей ему дочь, будущую актрису Марию Шнайдер). Сын Даниэль Делорм Ксавье Желен, ставший известным актёром, умер в 1999 году от рака в возрасте 45 лет.

В 1956 году Даниэль Делорм вышла замуж за режиссёра Ива Робера и занялась продюсерской деятельностью в их совместной компании «La Guèville», — иногда появляясь на экране в фильмах мужа, знаменитого комедиографа. Сыграла центральную женскую роль (Марта, жена героя Жана Рошфора) в его дилогии «И слоны бывают неверны» (1976) и «Мы все отправимся в рай» (1977).

Делорм была членом жюри Каннского кинофестиваля в 1988 году.
