The Movie Database Support

Seems that the counters for the average rating, the total runtime and the total revenue when your creating or updating a list are not working. I made a Test list and I found that newly made lists are all stuck on 0.

Hi there,

The fix for this just went live. If you head in to one of your lists and add or remove an item, the stats will update properly now.

Hi,

I'm experiencing this same issue with lists that I created today. For example : https://www.themoviedb.org/list/8243431

What can I do ?

Thanks!

Any update on this? This feature has been broken for months now. I see the ticket is marked as "up next" so I hope the functionality will be restored soon. It's easily the best thing about lists on this site.

On that topic, it would be nice to have some more data in there. For example:

  • Genre Distribution: Breaking down the list by genres and displaying the distribution of movies within each genre. This can help users understand the diversity of genres within the list.

  • Awards and Nominations: Displaying the number of awards won and nominations received by movies in the list, showcasing the critical acclaim and recognition of the films.

  • Director or Actor Popularity: Highlighting the most frequently occurring directors or actors in the list, indicating which filmmakers or performers are most prominent within the collection.

  • Release Year Statistics: Analyzing the release years of movies in the list to provide insights into whether the list is focused on a specific time period or includes a wide range of release years.

  • Box Office Rankings: Ranking movies in the list based on their box office performance, allowing users to see which films were the most commercially successful.

In my post above I mentioned there was a service we had to decommission early in the year and the current list system is next. Without getting too specific, the system that lists is built on is not the same as the rest of TMDB which is why it hasn't got much attention over the last few years. Luckily though, we've spent the last month or so bringing lists to our current system which will enable us to do a lot more with them in the future. They'll be sharing a bunch of code used on the rest of TMDB.

Engineering work for the migration is almost done, we need another week or two and then lists will migrated over. Don't expect anything terribly new just yet, we have to get the millions of current lists migrated to the new system first. But once they've been migrated, the level of effort to bring new features to lists will drop significantly. That means we can go back to adding some new features to them. wink

@travisbell Thanks, Travis!! You've built something amazing for all of us.

@Rocketeer Raccoon this was fixed for me with the recent migration. Updating for you? -John

When adding an item that's already in the list, I get "item added successfully" message. Instead, I should be getting the "item already on the list" message.

@travisbell Will we expect to see filters and search capabilities within a given list this year?

Great job on the latest update, btw!

-John
