Considering the response you got doing the test, your API Key is working correctly.
So the problem is not the API Key.
The problem might be with Synology NAS DS Video.
Some people are complaining about how Sinology NAS works.
I vaguely remember that there was an Update issue.
See if in any of these conversations you find any solution to your problem.

As others have said on here why can we not be given the option to use TVDB if we want. I am more than happy to pay them for an annual api subscription.

You can say that, but that implies either you will not be moving to DSM7, or if you do, you will not install Video Station on DSM7.

As you commented, probably we are aware (or at least, I am) that eventually we have to update the DS video for any reason: DSM 7, security update, etc... but this is no the matter on this topic, really, we do not have an intention to fight to the team for applying an update or not. This is just a kindly customer complain that we are not agree the decision on this update as we have other option (paying the subscription for example) and synology team makes this change directly without giving to synology users any other option. As you commented, some of us we take the decision to not update the DS video (at least for now) for having access to TVDB cause they give more time until 1st October. Probably is enough time to give synology team an alternative or perform an update adding again the TVdb service, addons, allowing us the decision to subscribe or not. Probably we cannot do absolutely anything for this decision but at least we would like to show how we are disappointed with this one. Also, this can have the effect that many users directly disregard to use DS video and jumps to Plex services, for example.

I discontinued use of Video Station years ago. That said, Synology doesn't care if you drop Video Station. It exists only as a marketing ploy. Synology's software strategy is "good enough"... Not world class, or even great. Synology is focused on cost ... doing the minimal acceptable to move its products. You can see that in the cheapening of the hardware line occurring the past two years. Weakened CPUs, soldered memory, case design, etc. There are numerous Video Station threads on dropped and missing codecs which have been ignored... just as this one will be.

Lack of competition is partly to blame, Synology can afford to cut a few corners and still be a top choice in the consumer market. I've a WD PR4100 which I use for backup since moving to a DS1821+ and the software (bugs) there is like a 1990s horror movie.

TVDB API is working as of now, I still don't understand whom does removing API access altogether really benefit? I read somewhere it may just be a strongarm tactic by Synology and as much as I'm against TVDB trying to monetize user submitted content, I've to agree this move doesn't make any other sense.

This is truly disgraceful service from Synology. The TMDB service does not work for many TV shows and has inferior metadata for many more. Removing the TVDB service after many of us have paid to use it and want to use it is really frustrating and shows no consideration for customers at all

This just happened to me as well. I tried testing, as per the above post and my API key was now considered Invlaid by TMDB. I used the API->Regenerate Key tab, regenerated, re-populated that value within VideoStation and all is well. It appears that my long-ago issued key from TMDB was suddenly not accepted by IMDB.
