Hi, do we know when both versions were released?
Edit: I'm asking since the hardcore version is listed as 1991, the softcore as 1992.

It's hard to say, I can't find any official data and the databases on the internet are not clear either. I have a book about such films - maybe there is more information in it, but I have to wait a few weeks to look it up.
My only hint is this interview: https://web.archive.org/web/20080618062226/http://www.splatting-image.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=8&Itemid=5
Apparently the director made a Josefine Mutzenbacher film in 1991, which fits this film based on the description. But I can't say if this is really the film - also, at the time of the interview (1996), it was still unreleased because the production/distribution company went bankrupt.
Anyway, the softcore version is only available on DVD (as far as i know), the hardcore version was also available on VHS - the latter was probably released earlier.

Thanks. Since these are old entries, let's take the patient approach and wait for your book check.

So, the book also says that the real release dates are not known. It is certain that the film was made in 1991 under the name "Was sucht Graf Bobby bei Josefine Mutzenbacher", but was never released theatrically because the production company went bankrupt. On VHS/DVD it was released sometime in the late 90s - whether hard or softcore came first is unknown; probably even at the same time.
As always with German sex films, there are two versions and (as always) the exact dates are unknown. So it doesn't really matter, you can choose one. Since the hardcore version is better known, I would keep that - the production year is definitely 1991.
Edit: The director apparently has a 35mm original print in his archives that runs 93 minutes, which also matches the running time of the hardcore version. (softcore runs 78 minutes)

I'm thinking I will probably keep the softcore version since that one was added to the database first. Unless you object strongly! The reported entry is the hardcore version. Edit: Let me know what you think before I pull the trigger.

I'm fine with that. The entry of the softcore version is also more complete

I'm studying this film, at the moment. There is a "wild" version out there, amounting to over two hours and ten minutes. That one looks as if it's an amateurishly restored full length version for 18+ audiences, and I can see why customers who have bought the film disagree widely as to its qualities, there being multiple versions, discs differing from cabled or streamed versions, etc.
My problem is that the cast lists on IMDB are incorrect, and incomplete, which at least in part is due to the fact that they have not the full version listed, whichever is the 'full' version.
Some 50 minutes into the film, Count Bobby takes a lover to a hut in the woods. I can't see the actress listed, and I try to trace the connections between different film projects made around the same time, including small parts that Elisabeth von Ihering (in my profile image!) may have taken, which she did in this film.
I can't find the actress via reverse image engines. Also, I am very poor at recognizing people, most people sort of look alike, to me. Anyway, if anyone knows who this actress is, thank you beforehand.

I don't know the name of this actress, nor do the internet databases have a specific name. In case you haven't found these pages yet, here are a few credits that might help you:
IAFD
EGAFD
Finding out the real name will probably be very difficult as you would have to dive very deep into some archives or something. Billian usually got the actresses for his erotic films through newspaper ads, not through agencies.

That's very interesting! Thank you very much. I have understood from my recent searches regarding this and a couple of other films, that many of his actors/actresses were extremely sparse with their work. Primarily, I'm following leads from and near Elisabeth von Ihering, but Billian films seem a bit of a dead end to me. Thank you!

Yes, you need a lot of luck with such actresses and films. May I ask why you are interested in Elisabeth von Ihering (or von Jhering?)?. Or have you already found out something about her? I did a bit of research a few weeks ago, but couldn't find a single thing - not even her date of birth or anything...
To me she seems more like a theater actress; why she ended up in these sleazy pictures is a mystery to me. Anyway, good luck with the further research!

That's right! She's a mystery, to me too, being involved with classical/opera conductor Carlos Kleiber's rare live performances. I'm beginning to suspect studies in genealogy would make it easier to trace her whereabouts, and see with what families she was connected, perhaps, or if there are records of other work associations, a sort of analogue "linked-in", if there were one. She's indeed a mixed bag, but in the sense of 'mixed' more than in the sense of 'half bad'. And indeed, how did Billian recruit her? In her case, not by advertising in papers, I guess. Strange someone like me would get interested in something like this. Probably nobody would be interested in this matter, back then.
