The Movie Database Support

Am having trouble getting entire Poster image centered and fully in the aspect ratio frame here. I have reformatted the file on other websites to try change the aspect ratio of the image and even squeeze it's dimensions to fit it in the frame, however, even when I do that, the image still is cut off on the left. Need help understanding how to fix this. [https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/1324670-private-i?language=en-US] -- Page where movie poster is

I can't put the file of the poster on here, but if someone who gets this can help and needs it, I'm happy to connect it to you elsewhere.

The standard ratio for posters that will perfectly fits the TMDB website canvas is a 2:3 ratio. A simple centered crop that remove the same amount of pixels on both sides of the poster should look okay.

Look for some kind of crop feature to change the size of the poster without squeezing it. You should be able to either select a 2:3 ratio directly, or manually change the canvas size. Either way, the 1122x1496px poster (assuming it's the original image) should be cut down to 997x1496px.

Thanks! I'm still having the same problem here with a smaller aspect ratio. One iteration of the poster is 844x1128 and another is 997x1350. In both, the poster in its presentational appearance in the profile is cut off on the left side. When I click on the poster to enlarge it, it looks normal and centered. I would like for the image to be normal and centered in its resting place on the profile without needing to click on it.

I cropped the bigger one to show you what I meant smile_cat

Awesome! Thank you! I'm looking at it now and it's still cut off on the left side and not centered. Do you know why that's happening?

I think it's the thing they use to detect and center on faces.

Annoying! Okay. I'm going to reach out to support on here and see if there's a way to undo that.

That's why we recommend cropping the poster to a 2:3 ratio yourself. You get to choose how it will look.
