The Movie Database Support

The entry for movie ** Caligula: The Ultimate Cut** has been deleted from TMDB. It was previously TMDB ID 1265620.

This movie has its own IMDB page (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt29703523) and its own Trakt entry (https://trakt.tv/movies/caligula-the-ultimate-cut-2023-05-17) and is quite separate to the original release in 1979.

Can the TMDB page be reinstated?

As indicated in our rules, TMDB doesn't currently support alternate versions.

Ok, sure, but given that it contains no footage from the original movie, it is arguably a remake, not an alternate version.

Its kinda "in between", but I also tend to say its more a "new" movie instead of an alternative version, see IMDB citation [1].

[1] From IMDB:

Under the supervision of historian Thomas Negovan, an "Ultimate Cut" of the film was created. Instead of expanding existing scenes with the new footage, the entire film was edited from scratch, which resulted in a version that doesn't contain a single frame from the theatrical version.

Just for the record, I've argued internally that we should make an exception here, but no support from Travis. This means we have to wait for support for multiple versions and delete whenever it gets re-added. One of the main arguments against allowing it is that the director of the original movie wasn't consulted in this project. Also, using alternate takes of the same scene is usually not enough to consider something a new scene, but the full scale of it here (using it for every single frame) is what I think makes it worthy of an exception.
