Item: The Inspector Lynley Mysteries
Language: en-US
Type of Problem: Incorrect_content
Extra Details: I've had the same weird, apparently automatic electronic, issue occur three separate rounds of times regarding the credits for actress Lesley Vickerage https://www.themoviedb.org/person/1219237-lesley-vickerage?language=en-US who portrayed the (eventual) wife of this series' title character.
The character, whose first name was Helen, bore the last name of Clyde during the first several episodes. Eventually she married Inspector Thomas Lynley and her name changed to Helen Lynley.
Well, I've multiple times changed her pre-marriage credits to read "Helen Clyde", they do definitely successfully save as such, I finish going through the whole batch of Lesley Vickerage's credits that are added to various of this show's episodes and seasons, all yet again is deemed completed, I look - and find it all was a waste of my time, and that the "Helen Clyde" name is once again reading "Helen Lynley" (even when you go to Lesley Vickerage's profile page that lists her credits and the names of portrayed characters).
It appears to be the TMDb system somehow automatically merging the names; there's no history, whatsoever, showing of any TMDb user or moderator having manually switched the character's name back to "Helen Lynley" either repeatedly or even once (not to mention I'm sure no one would do that).
It's no big deal, just is perplexing and frustrating. I changed all the pre-marriage Helen (character) credits a total of three different rounds of times going through them, beginning to end, making sure they were accurate according to what her name was at the time of a particular episode. Each time I changed them and moved on, they were defaulted back to saying "Helen Lynley" when I again looked a minute or two later.
I'm thinking that perhaps because "Helen" was part of the character's name both when of last name Clyde then when of last name Lynley causes them to automatically default to Lynley.
Incidentally, two different actresses, during the run of the overall series, played the character of Helen Lynley (nee Clyde). That was the other reason I wanted to get the names situation presented accurately, so it would make the correct chronology fully apparent.

Thanks for your report!
I assume you used a wrong strategy/method that doesn't work, unfortunately.
Okay, let me paraphrase what you want to achieve at the end. Lesley Vickerage was in 10 episodes in total, and she played 1 character with the changing name "Helen Clyde" and "Helen Lynley" because of marriage. There is one obvious quick solution -> you could credit her like this:
(10 episodes) as Helen Clyde / Helen Lynley
But that's not what you want - you want it like this:
(6 episodes) as Helen Clyde
(4 episodes) as Helen Lynley
Am I correct?
So, if I understand you correctly, the character name was only "Helen" at the start for all 10 episodes. And then you changed it 6 times to "Helen Clyde" per each episode and then 4 times to "Helen Lynley" per the last 4 episodes.
That doesn't work, because the changing process is always linked to all episodes with the same character name. When you changed it for one episode, the character name always changed for all episodes. Instead, you have to re-add the actress/actor with the correct different name and remove the other one. What I did in this case:
1.) I opened the first 6 episodes.
2.) I added actress Lesley Vickerage to all those 6 episodes with the character name "Helen Clyde".
3.) I removed actress Lesley Vickerage from all those 6 episodes with the character name "Helen Lynley".
That's it -> now it looks fine:

https://www.themoviedb.org/person/1219237-lesley-vickerage
It only works with this method/strategy.

You're a wonder, Janar, and I TREMENDOUSLY appreciate the awesome help you provided!
I only worked with existing Helen (whichever last name) character credits that had already been added previously, and revised the character name for any of them that said "Helen Lynley" but that were from when the character still was named Helen Clyde.
It's great you solved the problem! Again, abundant thanks!
