Discuss Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I was never quite satisfied with the defacto anointment of Agent Coulson by Director Fury. SHIELD' wasn't then Director Fury's personal asset but he sure did treat it that way. When Coulson steps down and Talbot is called in to assist SHIELD gaining legitimacy it is Coulson and his team who basically undermines the entire effort.

Now they turn Mace into a human plot sacrifice device. sigh....

Maybe just maybe Faux Director Mace gets some Virtual respect by being something in the Framework that redeems him. Wouldn't it be interesting if Mace did indeed become the Patriot and is fighting the good fight against HYDRA? It wouldn't make much sense to me Framework to create a scenario that has Mace constantly fighting but never winning in order to stay within the Framework happy. Maybe he is the Director and is Captain America?!

Even in the Framework the show continues to make Mace as the patriot clueless (as everyone else is I might add) as well as impotent. The sneak preview looks to make him selfless though but he remains a walking, talking marketing automaton.

I share your feelings to a degree. He's a great character and they don't write him with respect. Perhaps the writers don't like the word "Patriot"
