Discuss The Big Bang Theory

Hello Everybody. I was only semi-regular on the IMBD Big Bang Theory board and most of these other boards people told me to move to are super dead.

I recognize some of your usernames, and some of you I remember from other boards. FourLemons I remember for sure, Gothish, the dude with the tiger avatar, , MurphMagicTones, Erica I already know you from soapbox, Sports and politics, perhaps food and drink..... (I really miss those boards)

Nice to see you guys have picked where you left off.

(The bastards closed IMBD before the deadline even hit)

Seems like a lot of good posters haven't made the trip over here yet. Id like to get to know you guys a bit better so 1st

1) What shows do you watch other than this? Are you into comic books, science fiction like the guys on the show?

2) What movies do you like?

3) What music do you like?

4) What do you miss most about IMBD?

Welcome back Artic Fox. While I don't recall you from IMDB one of the things I miss from and also kind of not miss from there is the sheer number of people who came aboard. Also a miss and not quite miss is the very long discussions/arguments that proceeded from there. I do believe that a couple of IMDB regulars are here on new or altered names. If you followed them before you might recognize who they were just from their style of conversation.

I will have to get back to you on music/movies/shows/comic book/scifi/craft beers/cocktails. etc etc.

Please stick around and contribute, it is getting a little stale here in the summertime.

Hello there, welcome - the more the merrier!

As for your questions:

  1. Other shows I watch: New Girl, Mom, The Middle, The Great Indoors, The Mick, and I just discovered a show on TruTV called Adam Ruins Everything which I'm loving. Stuff I watch with the hubs: Agents of SHIELD (love!), NCIS, American Pickers, Jay Leno's Garage, Top Gear (any), and total guilty pleasures Catfish and Alaskan Bush People.
We are eagerly awaiting the final season of Longmire on Netflix. Said goodbye this past season to: Bones, Grimm (sob!), and Sleepy Hollow (more sobbing). Streaming recommendations: Besides the aforementioned Longmire on Netflix, I just bought the first season of Better off Ted on Amazon Video for $9.99 and the second season is on Netflix now. Very funny workplace sitcom that has a cult following - fans still lament its very untimely demise. I highly recommend it.

  2. At this point in my life, I can only muster up interest in Marvel superhero and some fantasy and animated movies - everything else seems boring or overly emotional to me now. All-time favorites are Jaws, Grease, A Knight's Tale, and the Harry Potter series. Last movie I saw was the live action Beauty and the Beast, which I found enjoyable enough.

  3. 80s New Wave, dance music, 80s and 90s one-hit wonders - most of my favorite songs have a groove that makes you move. But I do have a soft spot for pop-punk (think the Ramones and Green Day through American Idiot)

  4. The amount of active boards and the ease with which one could navigate from one to another. They really had the most user-friendly forums and had a lot of active users.

1) What shows do you watch other than this? Are you into comic books, science fiction like the guys on the show?

The Expanse - Dark Matter - Blindspot - Better Call Saul - ...SHIELD - Scorpion - Elementary - (into comic books--No; into science fiction--Yes.)

2) What movies do you like?

My addiction pretty much parallels that of the guys on the show.

3) What music do you like?

Broadway show tunes (I'll deny this if it gets around) and Irish folk music.

4) What do you miss most about IMBD?

Volume - Always loads and loads of new comments filling up the place. Here you can be gone "for days" and return to (almost) nothing new. (Mostly blaming this on the fact that the show is on hiatus--expecting things to kick-up once the new season starts.)

Hello, Znex. Yeah, I had a different, pretty generic username there. I think once next season kicks off this board will livin up.

Erica only you would call yourself a weaboo 😏.

I haven't kept in touch with many people from the soapbox but I did get the emails of some of the longtime posters. I do miss karliah and the heavy hitters over there.

A few of the sports board posters went to Reddit.

And posters like Ben , green rabbit, Maxim recoil, and GWNYC are still running amok out there somewhere.

One board I'm glad to be done is that cesspool we called a politics boards. That board went to hell in a hand basket around election time.

ArcticFox12 - How about letting us get to know you; by answering the same questions you asked.

1) For starters I prefer my sci-fi in novel and short story form. Isacc Asimov, Stephen King and the like. I also like to browse for authors I've never heard of before. My wife is what you would call a "Trekkie" whose seen every iteration of Star Trek and Battlestar whatever.

2) I'm a war movie guy, but I'll dabble in some horror, drama, historical peices, musical, comedy as long as it's not romantic comedy (blah) .

3) Music: Classic rock, jazz, blues, some alternative rock , country, classical, soul, swing, big band, I'm versatile. Love 80s music, Im my humble opinion best decade for music there is.

4) I miss the communities I was apart of for years. My account was 12 years old when they shut it down.

I especially miss the politics board before it devolved into a complete cesspool . Food and drink was great for finding recipes to pass onto my wife. Oh and how can I forget the sports board. Killed loads of time on there on work breaks.

If you haven't already tried, I suggest some A. Bertram Chandler. He was actually an (ocean) ship captain, and his stories have some more realism than most, as a result.

The John Grimes series is probably his best known. You could start with "The Road To The Rim."

I think I would miss it a lot less if there weren't so many "dry spells" on this Board. Still, expecting that to change with the new season.

I especially miss the politics board before it devolved into a complete cesspool . Food and drink was great for finding recipes to pass onto my wife. Oh and how can I forget the sports board. Killed loads of time on there on work breaks.

I didn't venture past the Boards of shows I watched (other than for tributes). I figured a certain amount of expertise in the subject matter of topic-specific Boards was required. And, since I’m not a big fan of fact-checking or backtracking when it comes to immaterial undertakings, I decided to self-limit.

As for the politics board devolving into a cesspool, I've never seem a discussion where it hasn't--a lot faster than one on race, sex, or religion.
