一九四一年，日本发动了太平洋战争。大学教授杨俊(朱瑞棠饰)的女儿杨海伦(黄淑仪饰)与同学余立德、好友刘光(于洋饰)、刘霞等人组织了一个话剧团，为宣传抗战而演出。剧团在彩排期间刚巧遇着日本军阀向香港发动轰炸，破坏了他们的演出计划，而香港亦随即宣布沦陷。本地经济大受摧残，居民们每天只得六两米粮配给，生活苦不堪言。同时日本军阀亦希望以怀柔手段去分化香港居民，很多爱国之士亦因此被杀害。

杨教授因鼓吹青年抗日而被捕，被日军首领桑野禁锢在监狱中。海伦得好友船坞工人刘光帮助，逃脱险境，躲在其家中，继续进行抗战工作。刘光的父亲刘广(石坚饰)亦在船坞工作，他与船坞全厂工人联合起来，誓要对抗敌人。可是日军的分化手段，使一部分人变节，余立德也投靠了日军。一九四四年，太平洋战争已到末期，日军已成强弩之末。海伦及刘光早已成了一对坚强不屈的抗日拍档，二人在刘广的指示下与其他爱国之士联络，准备向敌人进行袭击。

Yang Helen (Huang Shuyi), the daughter of university professor Yang Jun (played by Zhu Ruitang), together with her classmates Yu Lide, friends Liu Guang (played by Yu Yang), Liu Xia and others organized a drama troupe to promote the Anti-Japanese War. During the rehearsal, the troupe happened to encounter Japanese warlords bombing Hong Kong, destroying their performance plan, and Hong Kong was immediately declared to be occupied.
