Can the title be updated to be Doctor Who (2023) then?

No. The year should never be manually added to the title of a series.
It will automaticall appear once the broadcast date of the first episode of the first regular season will be known.

Isn't that problematic though? S01E01 will air sometimes around April 2024, yet the BBC website clearly lists those 4 specials to be the start of the show, in 2023. It is also labelled Doctor Who (2023–) on the BBC programming website that you mentioned previously and abiding by religiously.

No. As per our rules, it should be dated as per its first regular episode, not counting the specials.

So you are ignoring the listing on the BBC website for the correct date, is that correct? I want to make sure we are on the same page here.

The episodes broadcasted in 2023 are special episodes. As per our rules, they don't count to determine the years of a series.

Your rules also state that the listing on the original website must always be respected, which in this case, the original broadcaster BBC clearly intends to start the new series with those specials, else they wouldn't be listed as part of the show and the start date wouldn't be listed as 2023.
Are you breaking that rule then to favour another one? Just be clear with us. Are you picking and choosing what rule to uphold?

The 2 rules are respected.

But if the BBC are saying that the specials are the start of the new show, the first air date of that show is when the the first special has aired, correct?

Each episode has its own first broadcast date, but the main displayed year of a show is always the year from the first episode of the first regular season, even if some special episodes have been broadcasted before.

What the heck are you all talking about? I just spent 10 minutes browsing the internet to make sure I'm not mad. This entry shouldn't exist. The 2023 specials are specials attached to Doctor Who (2005). The next is series (US "season") 14 of Doctor Who (2005). There is not and will not be any Doctor Who (2023) or Doctor Who (2024) as separate shows.
Edit: ok, more research and the link above, I see. However, I am on the side of what wikipedia decided: Until we have listings on iPlayer specifically saying S01, then this new entry shouldn't exist.
Edit2: Don't want to bung this thread up with useless discussion. Superboy, I read the links, as I said. You nitpicking around my point (and misreading what I said about wikipedia) does not negate it. It is also an opinion. It is my opinion until we have more confirmation than we do - actual episodes numbers from somewhere official - things should remain without the new entry. Your link does not contain episode numbers. Also, why wouldn't BBC iPlayer be an official source if it is hosted on bbc.co.uk with episode titles and numbers?

Neither Wikipedia, nor iPlayer are the original source, iPlayer is only the replay site.
