Hi BBC says that the series started in 2023 (https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0gglvqn), but tmdb marks it as started in 2024 (because of season 1). Is there a way to change rules of TMDB to mark series started in the yr the first episode aired (either specials or seasons, whichever airs first)

No. The year displayed for series is always the year of the first regular episode (1st episode of season 1).
