I've been re-watching since the first episode, on DVD. Some of the episodes have left me thinking of loose ends, but this time I'm going to write about it.

So at the end of this episode, the two people responsible for the hit-and-run death of the young girl, have paid for what they did. But the girl's parents still don't have any "closure."

Do you think something more should have been done? Like, maybe Detective Scanlon visits the parents to let them know that they found out recently that those two were driving the car etc, the woman shot herself over guilt and remorse, and the man died in a gas "accident" that maybe wasn't so much of an accident?

Does that sound like helpful closure, or would they maybe feel even worse?

It could bring some closure, but what if one or both of the parents is not content and want to know more or do something, like suing the family? Or just tell someone else and it was reported in the news.

The family and friends of the now dead culprits would want to know what proof there was of their guilt. One can't just sully someone's name, and it's worse when that person can't defend himself or herself because he or she is dead.

We know who did it, because we - as viewers - saw it on the television, but as the DA said he would not be able to prosecute without any proof, and there is only circumstancial evidence.

So, there can be no closure, because no one will tell the parents, to avoid the chance of making things worse.
