If I'm remembering correctly, I don't think so (but I could be wrong). But the whole ordeal was still traumatic for her.

Yeah I don't think so either but she's still going through PTSD from it. They just didn't know how to treat it back then.

I just saw that episode and yes she was raped, otherwise Trixie wouldn't have said she shouldn't bathe until she was examined. Hard to watch.

Oh was she? Wow, I must not have been paying full attention when I watched it. That explains a lot. Thanks for that.

I just watched that episode and I distinctly remember Sister Mary Cynthia saying that she was not raped but she was beaten and the guy bit her.

I've actually blocked it out. Very hard to watch. I think I just assumed that she was. What is very shocking is how backwards they were as recently as the 1960s when it came to things like that, PTSD, rape, Down syndrome. I was a child back in the 1960s and, thankfully, things started to turn around in the 1970s as far as a new sensitivity and understanding regarding these things and others .

What shocks me is that it looks like the Mother House sent her to the asylum.

I took it that she was raped also. I guess from Trixie's comment. Oh, that was so sad.
