I respectfully disagree, he was an unnecessary addition to the cast. I didn't mind Monica but I also thought she was unnecessary.

I do not like it when TPTB insert a new character into a show and screw up the dynamic.

Great addition. Patrick is a seriously underrated actor. He did a great job stepping into a role that was bound to have some negative reaction from fans who did not want to see Duchovny leave. He surpassed my expectations and left his own mark on the show. If you want to talk about an unnecessary addition, it's Monica. She felt like a fifth wheel sometimes. I felt the show should have focused more on Doggett and Scully.

I like Reyes, but she was definitely unnecessary. I wish Season 9 was just Scully and Doggett.

I love him too. Monica was good too but I wanted Scully & Doggett to have some romantic relationships. Then came Monica and everything was ruined
