Discuss 8 Simple Rules... for Dating My Teenage Daughter

Finally started watching this on Disney Plus, Thoughts

John Ritter is the GOAT of comedic television. Hands down no one ever lit up the tv screen as Ritter did as Jack Tripper on Threes Company, but I think had Ritter not died this show 8 Simple Rules, could have gone on to be one of the greatest sitcoms of all time as well. Ritter as the funny dad who's dealing with protecting his daughters and dorky son, fatherhood, teen drama, work place drama etc this show is almost a perfect time capsule of how the early 2000's was!

The rest of cast was pretty solid as well, Katie Segal as the wife/mom/nurse so much different from Peggy Bundy like night and day lol. Kaley Cuoco could already be seen as a huge tv star as well which is evident with her going on to do TBBT. I also like the kid who played Rory he had good comedic timing and abilities for that character. The red head sister was kinda annoying and seemed like she was 30 for some reason, maybe her face just appeared older and mature? As the show went on they brought in the grandpa James Garner who's a big Hollywood legend but was pretty much an old grandpa who was not very energetic or mobile even. I wonder if they thought bringing him in would bring in he older crowds? David Spade was also a good addition as he played the shady uncle who was actually funny as well.

By bringing in Spade they could have more hot chicks on the show by having him pursue them, which is always good for ratings.

I'm only at finishing season 2 as thats all thats up on Disney Plus currently. I know once Ritter died the show lost a ton of steam and viewers so that might have been why it only went on for another season? But again had Ritter never died I could see this show really becoming one of the greatest sitcoms of all tv history.
