Discuss Mission: Impossible

We old timer MI fans love to discuss our favorite episodes, but the ones we hated, not quite so much. So, this will be the worse MI episode (ideally one, but with seven seasons, more will be okay to mention) thread.

My pick? Season four's The Martyr. Why? Where to start: Leonard Nimoy trying to pass as an eighteen year old? The female IMF agent whose singing and hippie outfits should be considered a violation of the Geneva Conventions? The world wide student convention being held in a Communist country? Jim being put under a hypnotic suggestion for some weird reason (again)? The very silly and hard to follow plot?

But enough about me. What are the episodes you can't stand and why?

Great thread! I can't nominate any from seasons 1 -3. I don't remember The Martyr very well, but before I slam any from seasons 4 and 5, I imagine there are a few possibilities from seasons 6 and 7 where the series became another run-of-the-mill cop show, so prevalent at the time. Nothing specific comes readily to mind.

There's a season five episode that is horrible, but in the so bad it's good way called Butterfly. I don't know if you've seen it yet, but after you do, please let me know.

Zubrovnicks ghost for me. Definitely my least favorite of the first 3 seasons. I remember there were a few others I didn't care for later in the series but I can't recall what they were. My friend my enemy may be my least favorite of the whole series. It was a little too ridiculous for me to be able to suspend disbelief.

Whenever I watch Zubronik's Ghost, I always do two things: every time Martha's "important work" is mentioned, I say to the tv screen, "what IS this important work?", and whenever they show the bad guy, I think, "Hey, it's the bad guy from Thunderbirds!"

I agree with you about My Friend My Enemy (or is it the other way around?). The only thing I thought was interesting was when one of the cast members would say to Jim, "you know what will happen if Paris doesn't get clearance---" in a panicked tone of voice.

One of our fellow OG posters once said that Bruce Geller liked say as little as possible about why a character left, etc. and let the audience fill in the blanks. In that episode, it had me worried about Paris.

Some people liked zubronik's ghost. I didn't think it was terrible, but compared to all the other great episodes it pales in comparison. I could picture that story being used for a Scooby Doo episode. Scooby would've taken care of those villains in the end

As I think I may have mentioned before, I hated Zubronik's Ghost at first. But I have come to like it for one reason: Martine Bartlett, who played Ariana, the phony medium/IMF agent. She was not your typical female IMF agent, and it's a pleasure to watch her work. It's too bad that her character wasn't used again.

@Jayhn1111 : You're right. Scooby Doo would have taken care of those Villians if it weren't for those meddling IMF agents!

Going out on an OT limb here, I saw something like this on the old website about That 70's Show. Recasting the actors. So ... who would the team be? Fred as Phelps Daphne as Casey (more-so that say, maybe Cinnamon or Dana) Velma as Barney (the Brain) Shaggy as Rollin or Paris (always in a disguised monster suit?) Scooby as Willy? LOL

Yeah, I know lima's gone lame-o, huh? Next?

@lima-2 : I never watched that show so I'll take your word for it. However, I do get annoyed when people make fun of Willie. While he didn't get a lot of lines during the first couple of seasons, his role in the show became better. And after all, remember what happened when the producers tried to replace Peter Lupus with Sam Elliott in season five?

I think Fred, Daphne, Barney, and Velma is a good call, but I'm struggling with Shaggy as Rollin and Willie as Scooby lol

Willie really stepped up in later seasons and got a bigger role with the team. So it proved he was capable of much more than he did in the first few seasons

@lima-2 : Sorry about that. I'm not feeling so hot, but that doesn't excuse me being rude to anyone. As for the tv show reference, I was talking about that 70's show, not Scooby Doo. Once again, I'm sorry, everyone.

That's ok, I didn't notice any rudeness. I hope you feel better!

Ditto MK. If I came across as rude, I didn't mean to be. My apologies to all.
