De vierde serie van de Britse tv-sitcom Absolutely Fabulous ging op 31 augustus 2001 in première op BBC One en eindigde op 5 oktober 2001, en bestond uit zes afleveringen. Oorspronkelijk zou Absolutely Fabulous eindigen met de derde serie, waarna de tweedelige special "The Last Shout" werd gemaakt om als officiële afsluiting van de serie te dienen. In 2000 creëerde en schreef Jennifer Saunders echter een tv-piloot voor een voorgestelde nieuwe serie, Mirrorball, waarin ze de cast van Absolutely Fabulous wilde herenigen in nieuwe rollen en een ander plot. Saunders keerde samen met Joanna Lumley, Julia Sawalha, Jane Horrocks en June Whitfield terug voor de pilot, maar de serie werd nooit besteld. Toch inspireerde Mirrorball Saunders om Absolutely Fabulous nieuw leven in te blazen en er werd een vierde serie geproduceerd. Een kerstspecial, "Gay" (getiteld "Absolutely Fabulous in New York" in de Verenigde Staten), werd geproduceerd na de vierde serie en werd uitgezonden in 2002.

The fourth series of British television sitcom Absolutely Fabulous premiered on BBC One on 31 August 2001 and concluded on 5 October 2001, consisting of six episodes. Originally, Absolutely Fabulous was to end with the third series, then two-part special "The Last Shout" was created to serve as an official finale to the series. However, in 2000, Jennifer Saunders created and wrote a television pilot for a proposed new series, Mirrorball, in which she intended to reunite the cast of Absolutely Fabulous in new roles and a different plot. Saunders, along with Joanna Lumley, Julia Sawalha, Jane Horrocks and June Whitfield, returned for the pilot, but the series was never commissioned. Nevertheless, Mirrorball inspired Saunders to revive Absolutely Fabulous and a fourth series was produced. A Christmas special, "Gay" (titled "Absolutely Fabulous in New York" in the United States), was produced following the fourth series and was broadcast in 2002.
