I believe release of "Monogatari Second Season" initiated confusion in season structure. It made three previous stories [Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari, Nekomonogatari (black)] to be treated as First Season. I suppose we believed Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari, Nekomonogatari are the first, second, third season. And suddenly "Monogatari Second Season" defied it. I think there are two choice. The first is to gather Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari, Nekomonogatari into "First Season". The second is to split "Monogatari Second Season" into six seasons [or stories (monogataries)]. I believe the second is better to conceive each season(monogatari) with it's distinctive story. The bottom line is that I suggest to rearrange seasons according to structure of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Monogatari_episodes which I found very appropriate. What do you think?

Sadly TMDb isn't a very good place for animes at the moment. Everything is kinda of a mess, just take a look at Dragon Ball Super, one of the most popular shows now, duplicated episodes everywhere, each user wanting to sort things in a different way. And the moderators don't know exactly what to do with them, there was a topic with some users trying to discuss a way to fix these things, but nothing came out of it: https://www.themoviedb.org/talk/588cb35bc3a368086500058a
So for now we have this problem where everything is fucked and none of the moderators want to touch any anime show at all, because they don't know what to do with them or even what Travis' final decision will be since he says his working in some kind of "Contribution Bible”, and it seems like he's working alone with this site, so... Yeah...
Basically, you can try to resurrect that discussion, maybe you guys can come up with something temporary. But for now, this issue will probably be completely ignored by the mods. It's kinda demoralizing to be fair, sometimes I don't even know why do I bother with these shows at all.
Edit: Maybe reposting this thread on the support forum is a good idea, I don't know if the mods look at the shows discussions.

Yes, no mod will ever look in here indeed...
No one was really confused as the listing is 1:1 as on TVDB (which works there for everyone since actual tools for an overview exist (more visual here https://trakt.tv/shows/monogatari/seasons/all). The thing with "Monogatari Second Season" is that it's more a hint to the light novels which had the season groupings. We cannot just join different cours into one season because one listed it as such. Also some are sorted out is because they were TV specials and not seasons. Either Travis and the mods figure something out for anime or we're more consistent by adding it objectively. Feel free to look around https://www.themoviedb.org/talk/588cb35bc3a368086500058a...

Would it be appreciated if I reorder the episodes and seasons in the correct way? This one ist quite annoying to watch without proper season and episode guidance.
Most anime here are in need for season structure updates, as the old tvdb way seems very random...

They could leave everything in separate chronological order in seasons.

Which is? Please don't make seasons for TV specials or the movies ;o...
Btw. since this thread started there was the custom order feature added. So you can do almost everything with that.

There are 50 episodes in the "special" season... So how do I use the custom order feature, when I want to use the data here to automate the renaming and/or scraping of my files? I mean that is the whole point, isn't it?

No it isn't and your question isn't specific
It should be published in the API https://developers.themoviedb.org/3/tv-episode-groups/get-tv-episode-group-details

It's still weird without Owarimonogatari II listed as it's own season, and Tsubasa Cat 3-5 listed as specials instead of being part of season 1...

Most of special seasons are not TV specials. Just as @Yamoto42 commented above. The TVDB shows the correct result: https://thetvdb.com/series/monogatari/seasons/official/1. Please change it.

Mhh, the listing used to be the same as on TVDB so I'm not sure when that happened for Cat 3-5 @Banana
https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-07-02/bakemonogatari-anime-promo-video-streamed
TMDB also has Oreimo or Wolf's Rain stuff in regular seasons so I would have to check the current bible what's today's feeling on such things.
The Owarimonogatari 2nd cour special IDK either. It wasn't that clear when it broadcast (if the "special" was designated for how it aired or if it was considered a season) but TVDB went with a season for it https://forums.thetvdb.com/viewtopic.php?p=118020#p118020 - imho this is valid for a change

This needs a massive fix, im fine with it all being under one show, with named seasons for the other series, but we need to add the other series, this is total crap, just like tvdb.

Instead of saying it's crap you could say what "other series" you are talking about (you added a duplicate for "Monogatari Series: Second Season" in November apparently https://www.themoviedb.org/u/Darkwolf1515/activity)?
Whatever your issue might be there are currently still alternate listings you can use... https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/46195/episode_groups

Sorry, was a bit rude, but categorizing the other series into one "speicals" folder is wrong, the episode group is right, those are the series. The only thing that should be "Specials" is the recaps, the rest are not speicals, they're their own season/series (depending on what you go for) As for why I added that, some of the series have their own entries, while also being listed here. Such as: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/90107 but now i'm noticing those indivdual series disappearing, like https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/105668\ (It was Nisemonogatari)
Basically, that novel order is right, and each one in there should be treated like its own season, or series, as the default. Sadly I cant just use that order, as jellyfin does not yet support it, even if it did, it doesn't look like id get proper data for each season.

Idk if this is relevant, but I've changed the "Novel grouping" episode group to Hanamonogatari, Koyomimonogatari, and Owarimonogatari in their correct places and Owari combined, lmk if that needs to be changed back, also I took out the summaries because they're not "in the novels".
