I earlier this decade watched all of this series and, overall, wasn't impressed, though nonetheless sufficiently liked it, and loved certain things about it.

In particular, I was crazy about Frances de la Tour as Violet, and Marcia Warren as Penelope. Any moments either of them were on screen or saying anything, it was totally hilarious (or genuinely movingly profoundly heartfelt) perfection. While I felt other cast performances seemed forced (like trying too hard), Frances and Marcia always completely seemed like truly the living, breathing characters they were portraying. I completely "got" Violet and Penelope, and loved them both.

I miss those two delightful fictional women. It's sad that Penelope obviously was slipping increasingly into Alzheimer's.
