Discuss Alice

Flo on "Alice" left the series because she had been offered her own show. Also I read that Linda Lavin was not happy that Polly Holliday seemed to be more popular. My favorite episodes are the ones with Flo.

Yeah! I can believe it.

You never can tell who is going to become a breakout character. And, once the public embraces that person, the "named" star becomes (at best)...second fiddle.

Flo: "Kiss my grits." 😄

Yeah, she was my fave, too.

So, has anyone seen the spinoff "Flo (1980)"?

I'm sure I did - though recall absolutely nothing about it.

Perhaps it aired opposite a competing network's far more popular (and far better) show. Decades ago, that often was why I didn't follow, or abandoned, a show I otherwise would have kept up with.

I rewatched "Flo (1980)". It was a bit getting used to without the other characters from "Alice". The show wasn't too bad, though the supporting cast was weak. I would have liked a third season to see if other characters - Mel was in one episode - from "Alice" would also appear.
