Aye, this is a good reason not to use TMDB as a data source for other programs (e.g. Duckie TV.)

As indicated in many previous reports, the new show is here.

That is of no help at all when the data is being retrieved remotely by another app. You are the only site doing the split. It’s about continuity of the show not the production company.

No, we are not the only one. The first site that has done the split is the BBC, which is the original broadcaster.

Because of the Production not the Program. I don't see you splitting other shows such as Brooklyn Nine Nine which completely changed production and broadcasters.

Whatever the reason, it has been officially split in 2 separate shows.
Despite these changes, this one has always been considered as one single show by the different broadcasters.

OK. So there’s more to it (as I’ve been following up) and it’s a mess for fans, and I may have been wrong or misinformed (still some talks going on). Disney doesn’t have the distribution rights to the previous 800 episodes of the show, (these are on iPlayer in the UK). So it’s all about distribution rights and Disney not having a season 14 show up without the prior seasons (oh the fear of not owning every thing). It’s still technically series 14, and they admit it but call it season, not series, one. I’d have said it means broadcasters changed but this is Disney and they mess everything up.
The original stopped in 1989 and there was a long period so restarting at 1 even though it continued made some sense (it was a reboot of sorts). This time there is no gap, they have the same actors and still reset so for those who’ve watched them all it makes no sense. There is some backlash so who knows if it will be changed to series 14 for UK and season 1 for the rest. Not sure even if Disney gets the rights if they will redo it as s14 or call it the new who.
IMDB (trust this more), however, has it listed as seasons 14 and 15 and that’s an industry used site so we’ll have to see if that changes there. Will see how it ends up after the new year at this point.

The BBC has already split Doctor Who in 2 shows.
IMDB is not a trustable source for series data. A simple proof with this series : It list the episode "The Church on Ruby Road" as part of season 14, despite the fact that the BBC has officially announced that this is a special episode not part of a season.
The only trustable source for series data is the official broadcaster, which in this case, is the BBC.
