I'm not one of the TV experts, but how is Possible Worlds presented by the original Network or production companies? That will be the key. From Wikipedia: "On January 13, 2018, it was announced that another season titled Cosmos: Possible Worlds would debut in 2019 .. "
But I'll leave this for our experts to decide.

Wikipedia refers to the new Cosmos as the "Sequel series", Also the 2014 version was premiered on Fox networks but the 2020 version premiered on National Geographic, which I think means that it is a new series rather than a season
