I know, I saw!!!! That does seem kind of wrong. Why can't anyone write a lead role for this guy? Does he not fit into a stereotypical mold of "blackness" for people? I know that I would give him lead roles if I was in the right position already.

He seems to have a quiet dignity about him like Wendell Pierce or James Earl Jones. Someone who is a Judge, Police Chief, Lawyer, or Engineer. Those roles aren't popular for older black men. I know they exist because I've met them, but it's more popular to have someone like Samuel L. Jackson ( I want these mother f_ snakes off this mother F_ PLANE!!!!) being angry and sarcastic. That sells.
Jeffrey Wright had another "likable nerd" role (Beetee) in the HUNGER GAMES series, appearing in all the movies but the first. I think the reason he doesn't star in movies is that he tends to play introverted characters, not outgoing heroes. Also neither Bernard nor Beetee are explicitly described as black, unlike Samuel L. Jackson's roles.

Hopefully he will stay in the public eye. His work on Westworld is good stuff.
